Not only a moral stories.
We often tell moral stories to children either to put them to sleep or keep them occupied for a while. In reality these moral stories or not just for passing time. At some point in our lives, we always remember these stories. And no matter how much we talk about them. It is never enough. Today let’s revisit some of those stories.
The first one among them is the story of the lion and little mouse.
While the lion was sleeping, a mouse came and disturb the lion’s sleep. The lion got the mouse tightly in its fist. The mouse pleaded with the lion to let it go, offering to help the lion in the future. Amused, the lion laughed and asked how such a small creature could possibly help it. What happens next is well known. How the mouse saved the lion from the hunter’s trap. There are two important points to note here. First, all though the lion is fierce animal. But it showed Mercy and forgive the mouse. By letting it go. Second even such a small house had the power to save the mighty lion.
Many of us are unaware of our own strength. Often, with think we cannot accomplish something or that we should start, we may not succeed. But when the situation arises, we handle it with ease, when we later reflect on why and how we were afraid. It makes a laugh at ourselves.
Now for the second story, the story of the cow and the tiger.
It is a well known tale. The tiger wants to kill the cow. However the cow asks the tiger, to allow her to see her calf one Last time. The tiger agrees and let’s the cow go home. After seeing her calf , the cow return to the tiger.
From beginning to the end of the story the cow is a portrayed as the hero. But we should also recognised the sacrifice made by the tiger. Although the tiger maybe fierce animal, in the end will learn that even it has a sense of compassion.
The power awaken kindness in cruel creature lies in goodness alone. It was the cows goodness that brought out the tigers compassion. Wasn’t it?
In life, no matter how difficult the situation our honest and goodness will always stand by us, it will protect us. This is the wonderful moral we should learn from this story.
The final story…
Is about a king who wished should that everything he touched would turn into gold. After receiving that boon, she unwisely turned even his daughter into a gold statue. The whole house was built with gold but could he give his daughter anything? Could he talk to her? Forget about having a meal with her, even the food he needed to eat turned into gold. The moral of the story is that greed leads to sorrow. Having some desire is not wrong but not excessive desire. We should not always think that everything should be beloong to us. If we do, we will lose that we already have. Remember, money is necessary but it is not life itself.
Just like in the story where everything the king touch it turn into gold, the stories we read in our childhood are more valuable than gold. No matter how many generations pass or how much technology advances, we must never forget to pass on the treasure of moral stories to our children.
